by Iris Teta Eubank Wagner
with grateful acknowledgement to Virginia Root
Rose, in sharing the letter, below, and her research of ancestor
Stephen Eubank,
descendant of Achilles Eubank.
From evidence found in the two most complete books researched and written on Caroline County, that is Colonial Caroline : A History of Caroline County, Virginia, by T. E. Campbell, and History of Caroline County by Marshall Wingfield, plus the Caroline Order Books, together with documents from Bedford and Amherst Counties, and Clark County, Kentucky, I see Achilles Eubank and his father Richard Eubank to be of the same Eubank family as my direct ancestors John Eubank and Mary Bullard of Caroline County, Virginia.
My John Eubank c1720, Richard Eubank c1717, and William Eubank c1715, all born in King and Queen County, Virginia, in the part that became Caroline County, are likely brothers, and sons of William Eubank, whose name is on the 1704 Quit-Rent list in Virginia. William may be a grandson of Henry Eubancke, the immigrant ancestor of this Eubank lineage.
The letter shown below was shared with me by Virginia Root Rose, a descendant of Stephen Eubank, son of Achilles, with first wife, Mary Bush Eubank. The letter is written by Joseph James Eubank, who was the son of Achilles with his second wife, Nancy Ware Eubank, daughter of Lucy Eubank and John Ware, of the Eubank and Ware families of Amherst County, Virginia.
